Sasha Wainstein, MD, FACS

Dr. Sasha Wainstein is a board-certified urologist with over four decades of experience in surgical and clinical urology. Dr. Wainstein earned his medical degree from Universidad del Valle in Colombia. He pursued extensive residency training in surgery and urology at Coney Island Hospital and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, eventually serving as Chief Resident in Urology.

Dr. Wainstein has held multiple attending appointments, including at Maimonides Medical Center, Long Island College Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center, and North Shore Hospital, where he served as Chief of Urology. His academic contributions include serving as a Clinical Instructor in Urology at SUNY-HSC Brooklyn and Cornell Medical Center.

He has authored publications in peer-reviewed journals on urinary tract infections and fungal infections of the urinary system, including works in JAMA and Urology. His clinical innovations include the use of advanced pelvic floor repair systems and laser prostate treatments.

Throughout his career, Dr. Wainstein has received numerous accolades, including “Physician of the Year” from the Guardians of the Sick and recognition as a “Top Doctor” in the New York Metro Area by Castle Connolly.

Dr. Wainstein’s leadership roles have included serving as President of the Medical Staff at Maimonides Medical Center. His lifelong dedication to advancing urological care has made him a respected figure in both hospital settings and the broader medical community.
