Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and bilingual (Chinese) Hybrid Medical Assistant/Patient Service Coordinator to join our team. In this essential role, you will be the primary point of contact for patients, assisting with both medical and administrative duties to ensure their experience is seamless, welcoming, and efficient. This hybrid position requires a proactive, organized, and compassionate individual who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role involves a mix of in-office and remote responsibilities, with Monday to Friday working hours 8:30am - 5pm.
Must be willing to commute to Chinatown and Upper East Side office locations.
Responsibilities:
Appointment Scheduling & Coordination: Manage complex appointment scheduling, ensuring maximum provider availability while meeting patient needs. Coordinate with both patients and providers to streamline scheduling and minimize wait times.
Patient Check-In & Check-Out: Verify insurance coverage, update demographic information, and ensure patient data accuracy during each visit. Assist patients with check-in/check-out procedures to ensure a smooth visit.
Medical Assistance: Assist providers with basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and ensuring proper patient documentation.
Patient Communication: Answer a high volume of calls, addressing patient inquiries, concerns, and scheduling requests. Provide bilingual support to Mandarin/Cantonese-speaking patients, ensuring clear and compassionate communication.
Records Management & EMR Usage: Maintain up-to-date patient records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and efficient management of patient information.
Financial Transactions & Billing Support: Collect co-pays, assist with billing inquiries, and support patients with basic financial or account questions.
Patient Education & Follow-Up: Educate patients about procedures, insurance, and next steps in care. Follow up with patients post-visit to ensure proper care continuity.
Qualifications:
Bilingual (Chinese) Communication Skills: Proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) is required.
Medical Knowledge & Assistance: Familiarity with medical terminology and basic clinical procedures. Ability to assist with patient care tasks and provide support to medical providers as needed.
Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing both administrative and clinical responsibilities efficiently.
Customer Service Focus: Compassionate and patient-centered approach to every interaction, ensuring patients feel heard and valued.
Technical Proficiency: Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and office management software.
Stress Management: Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in a busy healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a medical office or healthcare setting, particularly in a hybrid role.
Flexibility and adaptability in managing changing patient schedules and office demands.
Prior experience assisting with both clinical and administrative duties is a plus.
Knowledge of additional languages is a plus, but bilingual Chinese is required.
Compensation and Benefits:
$18.00–$24.00 per hour
